The Abomination Oat Cream West Coast IPA surprised everyone at KAIJU! and Working Title by being delicious and surprisingly moreish. Pineapple and mango aromas mix with West Coast dank and resin hop flavours and by golly, they go alright.
We took a heap of the old-school C-hops like Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe (it counts), Idaho 7 (stretching it) and used a couple of modern tricks to get a great balance of flavours. The addition of Chinook Salvo adds heaps of aroma and flavour without additional bitterness and a big charge of fermentation hops adds attractive biotransformation aromas into the mix.
The palate is kept extra silky-smooth through a sprinkling of lactose alongside the Oats, Wheat, Rolled Oats, and Golden Naked Oats. The beer has a medium bitterness, finishing with a hint of sweetness that actually keeps the palate coming back for more. Please note, it's KAIJU!’s first beer that’s not vegan-friendly due to the inclusion of lactose. A modern take on IPA that pays homage to its roots.
